Chris Evans is a British Photographer specialising in Digital and Medium format photography.
Her early career started by qualifying in medicine in 1966, specialising in Psychiatry and becoming a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in1981 and being the lead consultant in an Adolescent Unit for disturbed adolescents. This was followed by retraining in adult psychoanalytic psychotherapy and working with families and individuals and organisations (especially the Genetics Department in University Hospitals of Wales,Cardiff). The latter work resulted in the publication of a book entitled ‘Genetic Counselling’ published by Cambridge University Press in 2006 and it is still the standard text for Geneticists and Genetic Counsellors.
Chris was fortunate to learn about Welsh art through being a member of the Contemporary Arts Society for Wales where she was Lecture Secretary for 15 years before becoming the Buyer in 2011 and then Chair in 2012 a post she held for 5 years.
During all this time photography was a passion and developed through numerous workshops before taking it to a more formal qualification of an MA in Documentary Photography in 2019.
Exhibitions have included: a solo exhibition in the Travellers Gallery Barry 2015, BayArt Gallery in 2019 as part of the Graduate show for the MA and Llanover Hall and Arts Central Barry on a yearly basis since 2015 as part of the Women’s Art Association Wales.
